Harley "China Bike" Davidson-Take it or leave it attitude

The day I purchased my 2009 Rocker I also bought a $800 seat upgrade. Installed it and a month later started feeling the rear fender bucking the back of the seat. Part that Harley looked up was not for my bike.
Resolution? Dealer said I should have let them install seat, that I should ride the bucking fender bike 4 hours to the dealership so they can inspect it (even though I took pics and they have a copy of the reciept), and that "they were not going to repaint the fender" even if I do take it back for inspection.
Opened and trouble ticket with Harley corporate complete with reciept and pictures. They told me it was a dealer problem.
Have since bought parts to correct the problem and they too were wrong even though they were from another dealership. Tried to make me pay a 20% restocking fee on a $300 part because they ordered the wrong part?
Yes Harley, their dealerships, and their bikes suck. They are being made cheaper with more parts from China everyday. Soon we can call Harley's rice burners.

Chipped paint on Crank Case

I have a 2010 CVO Convertable and after owning it for about 5 months on the left side of the crank case by the rear cylinder I had a piece of the motor paint flake off. I call the motor company and they say that the fix for it is to paint it with a can of spray paint that the factory makes. I take it to the dealership and leave my scooter with them for 5 days. They paint it and when I go to pick it up the paint on my motor is now 2 different colors and you can still see the outline of the paint chip. I called the motor company back up and complain and there response is to paint it again. I went ballastic and told them that was not an option. They told me that Tech Services says that is the fix for the problem and I told them it was unacceptable. I have seen 2 CVO motors flake paint mine and another guys. I asked to speak to the supervisior and the lady told me that she would give my file to her supervisior and have her call me back. This was on a Monday and it is now Friday and I still have not heard back from them. The customer service lady told me that I am not going to get a new motor and I told her that I did not want a new motor. She asked me what I wanted and I told her that I want my motor to look like it did when I bought the over priced POS. I will be calling them back this Monday

Working on my Harley is Frustrating

This comment is not just related to Harleys. I have the same issue with cars as well. My issue is that despite HD being "American Made" and I use that description loosely, there is too much much mixing and matching of metric and SAE parts. In addition, the hardware used being a collage of metric and SAE, the chosen hardware often makes no sense at all. Why use TORX bolts when 6 and 12 point bolts will work fine for that application. How in the world can you put a 12 point 1/4 inch recessed bolt for the brake caliper and not convince me that the reason is to keep me from being able to work on my own bike? The whole expression of being a "Real Biker" is predicated on the belief that you should be able to fix your own bike. My dealership charges $85 for an oil change, yet I drive down the street and see guys standing outside of Jiffy Lube with signs for $20 for a dometic vehicle and they lube it, too.

My battery went out and I went to Walmart and bought an EverReady that matched (per the battery catalog) my bike. $70 bucks less the core and I get home and the terminals are not a perfect match. The battery casing is identical, but the HD battery has terminal caps on them that make it a side terminal battery. My EveryReady has recessed terminals that make it impossible to hook up. Why? It is so I have to go to my dealer and pay $125, instead. What a bitch!
