New Bike w/ Oil Leak

Bought Brand new 2011 FXDWG and after 400 miles the front cylinder is leaking oil at the base. Dealer tore it apart and informed that there is a milling flaw in the case which is the cause of the leak. They told me that Harley instructed them to use some type of gasket sealant to correct this problem. The dealer had informed me when I dropped off the bike that this could be a case issue in which Harley would replace the motor if that was the case and now here I am with a brand new bike with "glue" holding the motor together. As far as I'm concerned, Harley is a joke and I should have bought a Yamaha!!!!!

My Harley issues - 2007 Harley Davidson Dyna

Ok 2007 Harley Davidson Dyna. My issues are with support and warranty loop holes. The Bike itself is great, handling, power, "largest engine". First problem was the purchase of heated hand grips, they didn't work, so bike was being serviced at Harley and they took a look at them and said I shorted them out, wrong. When I purchased them they weren't sealed tight, the inline fuzz wasn't installed. I discovered that when I started playing with the original ones, I argued and won, they still charged me for the labor, the fuzz is the first thing they should have checked, that would have been a cheap fix. I bought the extended warranty 6 yrs, $1200.00 Look at the way things are worded, it seems if there is a problem it is most likely your fault. Flat rear tire, several hundred dollars, no warranty, 1 year old. I posted a complaint at Harley and I received a call, they were nice, but so what I got nothing in the form of reimbursements. The way things are structured there are no resolutions. There name and past reputation has gotten them far, sadly they seem to be losing that on the after sale side. You can't send Harley an email to complain, try to call and you spend the day on hold. Them and their dealers need to understand customer satisfaction is the key to successful business. Things need to improve or go down. I live in Central Mass. Hey hopefully this complaint will alter/fix their issues.

Gas Tank Noise

This problem seems minor compared to others on your site, but it is driving me nuts. This season, my '08 Dyna Superglide has developed a nasty clunk that seems to come from the gas tank, whenever I go over a bump, manhole cover, or pot-hole. This is its second riding season, and I have about 5200 miles on it. At first, I thought it might actually be inside the tank, like the fuel pump, but I can't rule out the instrument console either. I have had that off a couple of times, but have not found anything loose.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON IS RECALLING 2009 FXDB, FXDC, FXDF, AND FXDL

IF THE VALVE SEPARATES AND THE BIKE IS TIPPED OVER, IT MAY LEAK FUEL. FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.

DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE FUEL VENT TUBE ASSEMBLY AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE IT. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR ABOUT DECEMBER 8, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HARLEY-DAVIDSON AT 1-414-343-4056.

2006 dyna stator design problems

Please note the rotar is bolted together on these bikes and tends to back out the bolts which trashs the stator when it all falls apart. The replacement part is welded together , so the problem has been identified and fixed. Will the motor company recall all the Dyna line for 2006 to replace this part? I only hope so as the fix is not cheap. I have lost that loving feeling , and live in fear of what part will fail next. My bike has 25,000 km or 15,000 miles how long should parts last?

Re: Mine dont

99 Dyna.....71,000 trouble free miles and going strong....have done all my own work too...and I'm not even that great of a mechanic

Editor: Just to clarify, you are saying that you have 71k with absolutely no mechanical failures or any kind of work needed outside of routine maintenance and enhancements?

One of my battery cables got loose once....it took me a few minutes to figure out why it wouldn't start......... other than that......oil, plugs, tires etc.......still goin strong...........the days of the leaky, unreliable harley are in the distant past

My 1994 FXDWG

Hey Clayton, Came across your site and have enjoyed the responses. I currently ride a 1994 Harley FXDWG that I bought almost 5 years ago with 13,000 miles which now has about 37,000 on it and is completely stock (As I write this, it is November 2007). I've ridden her from LA to San Francisco and back (Actually about 100 miles north of SF for a total of 500 miles one way in a day). Three times from LA to St. George, Utah in one day (400 miles one way and usually in the middle of summer at 100+ degrees) Once to Yosemite from LA - and many, many shorter rides with no problems.
